Product update policy
Last reviewed
How and when we release changes to Vero, and how we tell you about them.
On this page
Vero is improved continuously. This policy explains how we release changes, how we keep disruption to a minimum, and how we tell you what has changed.
How updates are released #
Most updates are released without any downtime. You will see them the next time you load Vero or open the engineer app. There is nothing to install.
The engineer app updates itself when it is next opened with a data connection. Engineers do not need to visit an app store.
Planned maintenance #
Occasionally an update needs Vero to be briefly unavailable. When that happens:
- We schedule it within our maintenance window: Sunday 20:00 to 23:00 UK time
- We give at least 5 business days notice by email to account administrators
- We keep it as short as possible
Emergency maintenance #
If we need to fix a serious security problem or restore service, we may make changes without notice. We will explain what happened and why afterwards.
Types of change and notice #
| Type of change | Examples | Notice |
|---|---|---|
| Fixes and small improvements | Bug fixes, wording, performance | None needed. Listed in release notes |
| New features | A new report, a new scheduling option | Announced in release notes when released |
| Changes to how you work | A redesigned screen, a change to a workflow your team uses daily | At least 14 days notice by email |
| Removing a feature | Retiring a feature or integration | At least 60 days notice by email, with an alternative where one exists |
| Changes required by law or standards | Certificate formats updated for a revised British Standard | As much notice as the change allows |
Beta features #
We sometimes release features early and mark them as beta. You can choose whether to use them. Beta features may change or be removed without the notice above, and are not covered by the Enterprise SLA.
Release notes #
Every release with a visible change is described in our release notes. Account administrators can choose to receive a monthly summary by email.
Your data during updates #
Updates never delete your data. Where a change affects how existing records are stored, such as a new certificate format, we keep your existing records exactly as they were issued.
Suggesting improvements #
Most of what we build comes from customers. Send suggestions to hello@sentinelvero.com.
