Devices policy

The browsers, phones and tablets Vero supports, and how to keep them secure.
On this page
Vero works in a web browser for office staff and as an app on phones and tablets for engineers. This policy sets out what we support, what the engineer app needs, and how to keep devices secure.
Office computers #
Vero supports the two most recent major versions of:
- Google Chrome
- Microsoft Edge
- Apple Safari
- Mozilla Firefox
We recommend a screen of at least 1280 by 720 pixels. Scheduling and reporting screens are easier to use on larger screens.
Engineer phones and tablets #
| Platform | Minimum version | Browser used by the app |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone and iPad | iOS 17 or later | Safari |
| Android | Android 12 or later | Chrome |
The engineer app is installed from the browser to the home screen. We walk your engineers through it during onboarding.
Permissions the engineer app needs #
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Camera | Photo evidence of work and scanning asset tags |
| Microphone | Recording voice notes for site reports |
| Location | Confirming arrival at site and calculating travel, using the phone's location |
| Notifications | New jobs, changes and reminders |
If a permission is turned off, the related feature will not work, but the rest of the app will.
Keeping devices secure #
Vero holds customer site details and access arrangements, so the devices it runs on matter. We ask every customer to make sure that:
- Every device has a screen lock with a PIN, password or biometric
- Operating systems and browsers are kept up to date
- Devices are not jailbroken or rooted
- Staff do not share their Vero login
- Shared devices, such as a tablet in the office, are signed out after use
- A lost or stolen device is reported to your Vero administrator straight away, so its access can be removed
Customers are responsible for their own devices, including devices their staff own and use for work.
What we do not support #
- Browsers or operating systems older than the versions above
- Browser extensions that change how pages behave, such as some ad blockers or translation tools, where they interfere with Vero
- Private or incognito browsing for the engineer app, because it prevents the app storing what it needs between sessions
If you have a problem on a supported device, contact us through our Support policy channels.
